As I returned from my trip, slowly unpacking my belongings, I was definitely fighting to keep my eyes opened. Naturalization (Part 2)

This initial rejection took a hard toll on my health. Because of the financial distress, I lost weight and sleep. Keep in mind that during my naturalization application process, I was still studying in a university, paying rent, and working part time. 2011 was the most stressful year yet. I had gone through some arduous times to fulfill the promise I made to myself.

Many people ask me, “don’t you feel lonely being so far away from most of your family and support?”

“Definitely!” I always say it without a second thought.

It’s been three years since I first stepped into Augusta State University as a student. It’s been three years since I started living by myself. Oh boy, I can tell you, sometimes I feel lonely as hell.
