I know I have been emphasizing this in my biography, but I’m going to say it again- I LOVE WRITING.
I am so excited about this year’s Sandhills Writers Series! This great series provides great opportunity for students to attend lectures and reading colloquiums, given by nationally-known authors.
Nothing beats listening to the inspiration and history behind those famous master pieces from the authors themselves. In addition, Sandhills Writers Series also provide Mary Lu Kuhl Writing Scholarship, available to students who want to consult with a professional writer! This is an exclusive opportunity for students to get their writing pieces to be proofread and commented by those authors. Last semester for example, Karen McElmurray, the winner of Chaffin Award for Appalachian Writing, visited ASU and gave a speech to our students. She also critiqued students work. Cornelius Eady, a nominee for the Pulitzer Prize, also came to ASU’s Sandhills Writers Series and shared his experience in poetry and songwriting with the students.
I have dreamed of consulting with a writer ever since I knew about his Series since I was a freshman. As a sophomore, I worked as a student assistant of Dr. Kellman, the Series Director. I was not able to apply for the scholarship earlier because I hadn’t taken college composition courses yet. After a year, with many efforts to get those requirements out of the way, I submitted my fantasy fiction, The Heavenly Bird, to the scholarship. It has been a few rigorous days that I spent revising the piece. Just today, he told me that I have won the Mary Lu Kuhl scholarship, and my prose fiction will be read and revised by Jeffrey Stepakoff, author of two fiction books, also the writer for television shows. Not only do I get my pieces to be revised, but I also get to have a one-on-one consultation with Jeffrey
I’m thrilled and honored! I’ll make sure I have his book ready for an autograph!
The next event is March 15, 10:00 a.m. to 2:14 p.m. at JSAC Coffee House! Not only Jeffrey, but also Donna Weir-Soley, an erotic Caribbean poet, will give an informal colloquium, and follow by a reception & book signing

With havin so much written cnotent do you ever run into any issues of plagorism or copyright infringement? My site has a lot of unique cnotent I’ve either authored myself or outsourced but it seems a lot of it is popping it up all over the internet without my agreement. Do you know any ways to help reduce cnotent from being stolen? I’d really appreciate it.

My blog is a diary about my life. So I don’t see any issue about copyright when writing about my life. If you want to protect your content from being stolen, you can send your work to the copyright office, pay a fee, and get registered. Upon getting your work registered, you can then send cease and desist orders to those who have stolen your work.
